Factory output is slowly recuperating, according to Statistics South Africa’s latest manufacturing report. The nation’s manufacturing output increased 0.7% m/m in November, exceeding consensus expectations for a 0.4% contraction. Mergers and Acquisitions drop 61% in 2009

Johannesburg, Jan 14 (Sapa) - Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in South Africa dropped 61
percent in 2009, independent M&A intelligence service Mergermarket said on Friday.
2009 saw a total of 85 deals valued at US6.8 billion in South Africa, a decrease of 61 percent by value and 42 percent by volume from 2008.
