Bah! Humbug

Bizcast is cooling down for a few days after a long, enjoyable, and busy year. The Podcasts that have illuminated the site on a daily basis are all still there for your perusal, despite the absence of fresh stuff. Just go to the Podcasts section and choose any of the hundreds of interviews that we’ve conducted with some of south Africa’s and the world’s leading brains, on a variety of topics.

Personally, I’m off to the mountains with my family. Previous Christmases have been spent in rather grand surroundings  surrounded by people who thought themselves rather grand. Not this year.

This year it’s an antidote to that ‘grandeur’, in keeping with the spirit of the recession. Camping in the wilderness, with only the stars for company and a scorpion or two in the sleeping bag. No cellphone coverage, no electricity, and 45 minutes drive to the nearest hamlet. And when you get there all there is is a general dealership specialising in phospate fertiliser, instant yeast, and buttermilk rusks.

Simplicity; a concept that may well become the one good thing that emerges from the turmoil that captivated us all over the past 18 months, and that I suspect might still have some captivating to dish out in 2010.,
